Edwin Büchter, cleansort GmbH: Winner of the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2024

The Innovation Award Laser Technology 2024 provided with 10 000 € prize money and initiated by the associations Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. and the European Laser Institute ELI has been conferred to Edwin Büchter, Co-Founder, Mentor and Managing Director of cleansort GmbH in Rösrath, on April 17, 2024 in the Coronation Hall of Aachen Town Hall.

Der mit 10.000 € dotierte Innovation Award Laser Technology initiiert von den Vereinen Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. und dem European Laser Institute ELI e.V., wurde an Edwin Büchter, Mitgründer, Mentor und Geschäftsführer der cleansort GmbH in Rösrath am 17. April 2024 im Krönungssaal des Aachener Rathauses verliehen.

KG and Stefan Wolf, Head of Research & Development at PRIMES GmbH on May 4, 2022 in Aachen´s Coronation Hall.

Open call for applications for the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2022 - closing date February 14, 2022.

Owing to the progressing coronavirus pandemic, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT has decided to cancel the International Laser Technology Congress AKL in 2020. The safety and health of our attendees, partners and employees has top priority for us. The next AKL will take place from May 4 to 6, 2022, thus maintaining its regular biennial rhythm. However, so that interested parties do not have to wait another two years for the live demonstrations in Europe's largest laser system park, which are firmly anchored in the AKL, Fraunhofer ILT intends to open its doors as early as this autumn and in 2021 for various planned symposia in Aachen – provided that the general conditions allow it again.

The Innovation Award Laser Technology 2016, initiated by the associations Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. and the European Laser Institute ELI and provided with 10 000 € prize money, has been conferred to Dr. Ir. Armand Pruijmboom, General Manager of Philips GmbH Photonics Aachen on 27th April 2016 in Aachen´s town hall. Dr. Ir. Armand Pruijmboom and his team have got the first place in the open prize competition with the innovation VCSEL arrays: A novel high-power laser technology for “digital thermal processing". The jury composed by ten international experts has selected 3 outstanding finalists among the 15 submitted applications. In the historical ambience of the »Coronation Hall« around 320 guests attended the awarding ceremony.

The Innovation Award Laser Technology 2014, initiated by the associations Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. and the European Laser Institute ELI and provided with 10 000 Euros prize money, has been conferred to Dr. Ralf Preu, director of the division “Photovoltaics – Production Technology and Quality Assurance” of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Frei-burg (Germany) on 7th May 2014 in Aachen´s town hall. Dr. Ralf Preu and his team have got the first place in the open prize competition with the innovation “Laser Fired Contact (LFC) technology for the production of highly efficient silicon solar cells”. The jury composed by 9 international experts has selected 3 finalists among the 23 submitted applications. In the historical ambience of the »Coronation Hall« around 300 guests attended the awarding ceremony.
